GM!! ☕️🎨 Study in Acrylics for my ‘Odysseus on the Island of Circe’ series from a few years back.
In The Odyssey, Penelope has a dream that a great eagle
swoops down from the mountains and kills her geese.
It’s a prophetic dream for when her husband, Odysseus,
returns from war, he kills her many suitors.

Odysseus during the Trojan War was extra cranky.
He does end up becoming buddies with Diomedes... who secretly(?) liked ducks, but was feared by ducks.
Thanks to Odysseus, Diomedes can finally fulfill his dream of petting ducks.
(this isn't in the game)

What I read this past year..
Odysseus' travels (Les voyages d'Ulysse) by Emmanuel Lepage, Sophie Michel and René Follet is a tale of a 19th century painter who, after losing his muse and unsuccesfully trying to rekindle his creativity, embarks on a mysterious ship named Odysseus
Odysseus stays w the magical Circe (and then Calypso) “These siren goddesses initiate our hero & a grand transformation occurs, as he moves from self-serving power seeking male to ....a vision for the good of the kingdom and all its inhabitants.

Seems like I never talked about Odysseus' height (comparing to other Ancients)
How do you think how tall is he?🚶♂️
Odysseus is notably unruly and obstinate, don’t let his regal appearance fool you. Don’t let his soft eyes lull you into a false sense of security.

Circe is a sorceress goddess. Similar to Kalypso, she plays important roles in the adventures of Odysseus. She dominates the men and turns them into pigs or dogs.
This sorceress goddess is an important figure in the history of art, preferred by many painters as a subject.
I constantly go on about my favourite comparative moment between the Odyssey and the Aeneid: the stag.
In Odyssey Book 10, Odysseus kills a stag and carries it back to his men…
In Greek mythology, one of the most famous tales involving weaving is of Penelope, whose weaving and unraveling allowed her to keep her suitors at bay while her husband Odysseus was away. More in the thread below.
