Disappointing, when one searches for "paleontologist" in stock images, you largely get pictures of men in cowboy hats or colonial pith helmets, searching for theropods, in a desert.
(disclaimer, very small portion of palaeontologists actually do that)
It’s like you’re a fossil sample and I’m an impatient palaeontologist, cause I wanna date you badly~
@BrianEngh_Art @danielkrouse4 I used to think to be successful palaeoartist, I need to rigorously stick to skeletal reconstructions. But after becoming an actual palaeontologist, realised they're a huge niche for experimenting with styles & by extension audiences.
The children's book "Ein T-rex namens Sue", featuring female palaeontologists and their research, is now on sale - and guess who has a camera and is taking a picture of a sauropod!📷🦕

In the most extreme version of the shrink-wrapping meme promoted by one or two palaeontologists and palaeoartists, sauropod necks have been depicted as if these structures should be visible in the live animal, Ely Kish’s apatosaurines from 1983 being the ultimate example...
@OpalOwlbear Hello there! I'm Basil! I'm an autistic artist and author primarily focused on fantasy. I like drawing anything from fierce ladies to dragons, but I want to expand my range.
I'm also an amateur palaeontologist and occasionally post pictures of my fossil collection!

Lorna Rose Treen: The Bone Wars
This is a hilarious story of bribery, theft, secret agents, 142 species of dinosaur, two palaeontologists and one dirty rivalry.
