I've been thinking about 七面鸟 (seven-faced bird) since I heard it.
It's the name for turkey in Japan & I think a bunch of other Asian countries too, and I've been itching to do a #PutongAnimal design for it.
Well this has turned into my first monster design, how very 2020 😂
The celestial crustacean that wanders the clouds, now with 100% more majesty.
The Chinese name for lobster is 龙 (dragon) 虾 (shrimp), I really like my original design of it, just took the horns off.

Remember my #PutongAnimals? I took English names of animals and did literal translations into Chinese.
I've decided to redo them all in the more painterly style I'm into right now.
Here comes a turkey/火鸡/'fire chicken' walking in a snowy night.
Hi, I’m Frankie, I’m an illustrator and writer who enjoy playing with words and translation in the form of musings and paintings. I am the creator of #PutongAnimals, a collection of imagined animals according to literal translations of their Mandarin Chinese names.

#PutongAnimales: 企鹅 (qǐ'é) "tip toe goose", refers to the penguin.
It's pretty widespread that the literal translation means "corporate/enterprise goose", but I found out that 企 actually means to stand on ones toes, so I've decided to go with this meaning for my drawing.
#PutongAnimals: 龙猫 (lóngmāo) “dragon cat”, refers to chinchilla.
Chinchilla is one of several animals mistaken for feline. I’ve gone the celestial creature route again with this one ✨
#PutongAnimals: 袋鼠 (dàishǔ) "pocket mouse", refers to the kangaroo.
Here, the pocket mouse hangs out with their friend, the pocket book mouse 😆
#PutongAnimals: 眼镜蛇 (yǎnjìngshé) "spectacles snake", refers to the cobra.
Please leave your email address here to help me gauge interest in the PutongAnimals project, which I'm hoping to expand into a children's book...or something 🙂 https://t.co/yXgzouDowJ
#PutongAnimals: 火鸡 (huǒjī) "fire chicken", refers to the turkey.
#PutongAnimals: 鸭嘴兽 (yāzuǐshòu) "duck mouth beast", refers to the duck-billed platypus.
兽 really makes me think of something that walks on all fours...so this happened.
