Ingetogen geluk. Rotondekunst. Jaloersmakende mistroostigheid.

Drawing after Dirck Barentsz coming up for auction. A meare 150 euros estimate. The original is in the Rijksmuseum. Dirck obviously had problems with the foreshortening of Christ's head which he messed up totally. Interesting that the copyist copied the mess.
Rare image of an #earlymodern Dutch attic by Harmen ter Borch, ca. 1651, #rijksmuseum. Spot all those items which were described so many times in the notarial deeds: old pots, boxes and a chest. @Krabbelmuur @voetnoot @mrjmschaap https://t.co/u0IS2goS8B https://t.co/ARRjwHFoKp

Three miniatures of Henrietta Maria by John Hoskins, 1589/90-1664 from the Rijksmuseum.
Close ups of a few different paintings on the go. Reminds me of a time I was in the Rijksmuseum. I’m pretty blind so have to get close to see detail. Every time I looked an alarm bell rang. Didn’t realise it was the brim of my hat touching the painting! Sneaked off sharpish 😳🙈
There is even an #earlymodern version with a #cat! Kitchen interior after Maerten de Vos, 1575 - 1610, #rijksmuseum. 3/3
Likely source of inspiration: Nicolaes Jansz. Clock, ca. 1586 - after 1602, #rijksmuseum. 2/3
