Phyrexia is a faction of biomechanical monsters bent on turning flesh into metal. They were defeated in part by Mirrodin's creator, Karn, but drops of phyrexian oil managed to make their way into the Mirrodin's heart during its creation - Which was all they needed to rise again

One of the most famous sculptures in the world, Rodin's "The Kiss" was, in fact, meant to be a depiction of doomed lovers Paolo & Francesca. It was even originally titled, "Francesca da Rimini".

This is Anselm Feuerbach's (#BornOnThisDay) 1863 rendition of the pair. 🎨

I think it's kinda freaky that today in class we were shown Rodin's "The Thinker" and just yesterday I started watching Ace Attorney which also involved The Thinker.

Detail of my favorite figure from the grouping of Rodin's The Burghers of Calais, cast 1902-03. And, once again, because *every* museum has some version of Rodin's The Age of Bronze, cast 1901!

I've made this two small on canvas before seen Rodin's drawings and what a difference! Even If I love to come back to these mediums… you start to know now that I'm totally an unstable artist of the medium. Irrecoverable. 🤪

I have this weird obsession with contemplating just how many casts of Rodin's The Age of Bronze (L'Age d'Airain) exist in the world. It was modeled in 1875-6, but cast for many years after. These two versions are both from the collection.

The 'Kiss & Tell' exhibition at Christchurch Mansion in Ipswich is impressive and well worth a visit - a real treat to see Rodin's The Kiss, and a line-engraving from William Blake, as well as many other sculptures and life drawings.
