And lo! my lot so changèd is
That my Beloved One is mine
And I at last am surely His.

"Give us this day our substantial bread. This common bread is not substantial bread, but this Holy Bread is substantial, that is, appointed for the substance of the soul."

St Sebastian was an early Christian martyr, who ended up looking a bit like a pin cushion (although, this incident didn’t kill him). He’s also patron of plague victims, so seems a pretty handy saint to have around at the moment

"Never give up prayer, and should you find dryness and difficulty, persevere in it for this very reason. God often desires to see what love your soul has, and love is not tried by ease and satisfaction." -St. John of the Cross

Who knew chopping down a tree could convert people to Christianity? After leaving his home in Devon and travelling to Germany in 716AD, St Boniface felled the Donar Oak which was dedicated to the God Jupiter. When nothing happened, the people converted. Simple.

Do you ever get confused between St Johns? El Greco provides us here with a handy spot the difference. Our illustrious patron is on the left - we celebrate him today and give thanks for his prayers. Mass at noon!

Here’s a kitsch image of a guardian angel. There’s nothing kitsch about these creatures though. God’s messengers, they play a vital role in the life of the kingdom. Guardian angels are very real, and we give thanks for them today

St Andrew Kim Taegon was first Korean born RC priest. He and 120 others were martyred in 1846 during heavy Christian persecution. We pray for the people of Korea and the church in those lands today
