To celebrate #StGeorgesDay, here's a fantastic mural taken from the @NorfolkMuseums collection.
It was created by artist Cornelius Jansson Walter Winter (1821-1891) for Fritton Church, Norfolk!
Thank you to everyone for continuing to stay home this #StGeorgesDay2020 👏
#MuseumFromHome Last of my selection of @NationalGallery paintings for #StGeorgesDay, showing #StGeorge & the dragon, by #GustaveMoreau, leading French Symbolist artist. Inspired by #Renaissance & #Byzantine #art, #Indian & #Persian #miniaturepainting https://t.co/vgiHT7IAUZ
#MuseumFromHome Another @NationalGallery painting for #StGeorgesDay, this time by #Tintoretto. The dramatic scene has #StGeorge arriving just in time, while the princess flees. It came into our collection in 1831, only 7 yrs after gallery was formed 2/ https://t.co/vL3B5cKDuC
It’s #StGeorgesDay, so here's a picture of a #dragon in our exhibition ‘We Made This’ at @TCMargate! ‘Come to Life’ was made at HMP East Sutton Park. The artist writes: “Inspired by Esher's Lizards I drew my dragon then wanted to fly away with him…” >> https://t.co/bcdEvRQhOF
For #StGeorgesDay, we are previewing #English #items #forsale at The #Petworth Park #Antiques & #FineArt Fair @PetworthNT in #WestSussex 11-13 May #art #silver #jewellery #ceramics #furniture #glass #lustres #lighting #clocks #vintage #watches
Happy #StGeorgesDay, in which we remember a Greek, or Turkish, or maybe Syrian, probably fictional soldier as a symbol of everything that makes England great - stealing stuff & making a lot of noise about it!
