the kinzers formation anomalocaridid, known now as lenisicaris pennsylvanica, but won't remain (as i predict). here it's in a twisted swimming position. higher quality version in the thread.

to celebrate the new anomalocarid/hurdiid discovery im reposting these

Will post the final later: here are early explorations of the Pinnacarid both swimming and resting on the ice. The name combines Pinniped (seals etc) and Anomalocarid in reference to the the final fin design.

Oops I mean, anomalocarids.

I should give the strange shrimp the proper respect by at least spelling their taxonomical order name correctly.

Anomalocarid-class engagement unit.

More stuff for the biomech setting. Not all of them would be based on cambrian creatures, but the Cambrian Explosion is a great source of Weird Designs.

Human presented for scale.

Me and had done some reconstructions of anomalocaridid and amplectobeluid (both have ovoid P-elements) based on the recent interpretation. But so far, the arrangement are mostly based on those of hurdiid, and we may still have different opinion on some details.

If it is internal muscle, it should share some similarities with the frontal appendage muscles of related animals like Pambdelurion. I’m not sure if that’s the case; or perhaps Anomalocarids are significantly different. I need to look into it further, and I need your opinions.

Today is and perhaps no Lobopod is spookier than the giant king of the Chengjiang reef, Omnidens amplus, the “all-tooth-titan”. Somewhere around 1.5 meters in length, this animal could’ve preyed on even the largest contemporary anomalocarids.

all the other crash ocs i have: n. tomon (cortex's shitty intern, invertebrate specialist), cole n. oscopy (cortex castle's friendly but vaguely sadistic on-site medic), arnie the anomalocarid abomination (brio's paleontology project gone wrong), and trouble puppy (nina's pet)

Predation on Anomalocarids is hardly speculative. We have one fossil which either shows part of the (very) dangerous appendage of Omnidens, or, a chunk of Anomalocarid in the mouth of Omnidens. Either way, it must have eaten Anomalocarids.

(Its in the bottom illustration)

The Burgess was home to several genera of Hurdiid anomalocarids, which survived by filtering food out of the fine silt, brine seeps, and water column, using comb-like frontal appendages. These include Peytoia, Stanleycaris, two species of Hurdia, and Cambroraster elsewhere.

Laminacaris chimera, a strange intersection between the Hurdiid Anomalocarids and the Amplectobeluids, inhabited the waters of the Chengjiang sea 518 million years ago. Described by , , and their colleagues in 2018.

BLIMP SHRIMP BLIMP SHRIMP
Aegirocassis was the largest Anomalocarid known to exist, and it had many blimp-like qualities. This drawing I made is meant to evoke images of the Hindenburg. Grey scale Anomalocarids are great.

505 million yr old Middle Cambrian Anomalocaridids include Opabinia regalis.
