I know I bang on about it every time you ask this question, but the interwar biplanes of the RAF (and others) with their colourful squadron markings, elegance and nostalgia are crying out for an affordable 1/48th range, aren't they?

like on biplanes you can just slap a face on the front of the engine, the propellers can even serve as mustaches

Saturday Artwork for this week shows a 'Battle of the Biplanes', painted by a British artist Mark Postlethwaite.
The subject is a Fiat CR. 42 'Falco' of the Italian Air Force, which has just claimed a Royal Air Force Gloster Gladiator. The types met in WW 2, over North Africa.

While overtaken by more advanced aircraft, Gloster Gladiators were used in many theatres globally, including North/East Africa battles against Italian & served many air forces, ranging from Finland to China & beyond. Last service Portugal, 1953.
