William Mackenzie, railway contractor, was born 1794. He built many continental railway lines particularly in France with Thomas Brassey and Joseph Locke. The Mackenzie collection of diaries, correspondence and drawings is one of our largest collections .

My Durbar Hall from c.1940 guidebook. Built for 1886 Colonial & Indian Exhibition Tom built it onto our 24 Park Lane home. Opened as "The Lady Brassey 1888. TAB donated it to Hastings 1919 reopened there 1932.
