Had to go back and edit Rlain’s patterns since I thought that the carapace itself had its own distinct coloration that’s separated from their skin. Looks more natural now I think.

The FFVII Weapons are Gundam references, but looking at the Nomura concepts and the later FFXiV renditions, they (especially Ruby) also feel like Jes Goodwin's 90's Tyranids with the hooves and carapace.
