The Welsh river dwelling Ceffyl Dŵr - a shape shifting water horse, similar to the Scottish Kelpie - appears harmless, but has been known to trample victims underfoot or drown riders by dragging them back into the river!

“The Ceffyl Dŵr or water horse is a superstition common...to all the Celtic race...An evil spirit, who...would induce the unwary stranger to mount him and soaring over river and mountain would suddenly melt into...mist and precipitate his rider to destruction”

The ceffyl dŵr is a Welsh fairy horse that inhabits mountain pools and waterfalls. In south Wales, it is often benevolent, but in north Wales it is not. It likes to get travelers to ride it, fly into the air, and then become mist, so the riders fall to their deaths

It’s XD so I’m sharing this beastie from my art book!
The Ceffyl Dŵr is similar to the Irish Kelpie, but they are less interested in eating humans and have huge beautiful feathery wings
