Mounted crossbowmen were a popular military unit in the late 15th century following the invention of cranequin (circa 1460) which made crossbows easier to span for reloading.

Glad to see in Elden Ring certain minor fromsoftware references that carry on along the years.
Pavese shaped shield that doesn't block perfectly but gives you healh regen with fancy painting on it going strong.
