Best Older Game: Dōkyūsei 2
Echoing the 1st game’s praise, 2 builds on all that while upping scale & drama. 2 utilizes its winter holiday calendar time to play off routes wonderfully. There are two intertwined routes that unfold in a neat way I’ve never seen. The art is stunning.

I finished my first playthrough of Dōkyūsei 2! Got only one ending, though. Aaah, so sad! I feel like I missed a lot so we're gonna go back in, grab a guide, and do better!

A cute little drawing of Dōkyūsei's Mai Sakuragi that I had commissioned by the very talented ! Thanks again for the lovely drawing!🥰

"A boy met a boy.
They were in flush of youth.
They were in love that felt like a dream,
like a sparkling soda pop."

Started PC-98 Dōkyūsei 2 & played through its prologue. The sprite work & art are out of this world.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this one pans out!

Konami's "Tokimeki Memorial" is said to have been influenced from Dōkyūsei. Additionally, Tokimeki Memorial's heroine, "Shiori Fujisaki", has a design similar to Dōkyūsei's main heroine, "Mai Sakuragi". Tokimeki Memorial is also a seminal title, groundbreaking in its own ways.

As such, Dōkyūsei created quite the splash, selling more than 100,000 copies! This was not only unusual for a PC game, but for an adult game, as well. Other companies took notice and began to pursue more drama, characterization, and deeper romance, too.

Dōkyūsei was innovative for its blend between ADV & simulation parts. This novel tie between character interaction & open-ended setting made it realistic. The player was free to discover events on their own. Some weren't grounded to a specific place, making its cast feel human.

The concept is an evolution of Elf's 1989 PC title "Pinky Ponky", a more novel-type ADV where the player is tasked with "picking up girls". Dōkyūsei's exploration is also reminiscent of Disk System title "Kieta Princess".

Dōkyūsei was first released by Elf Corporation in 1992 for JP PCs. It's a "romance adventure game" where you have 21 days to bond with 14 heroines before confessing to 1 at the end. You can freely explore a town, which passes time. Sometimes, you'll come across ADV-style events.
