I needed another sauropod next to Giraffatitan for Tendaguru, so I simply squished an old model of Apatosaurus into the comparably dwarf diplodocoid Dicraeosaurus hansemanni. I never realised how small they are (still in dinosaur measurements, but still). Kinda cute. Early stage.

New paper on the enigmatic diplodocoid Amphicoelias altus , one of the earliest named sauropod dinosaurs from the Late Jurassic Morrison Formation, USA, in which we argue that Morrison sauropod diversity is under-, not over-estimated🦕https://t.co/YBM5Gb9xTX

Unlike its relatives Diplodocus and Apatosaurus, Dicraeosaurus had a large head with a relatively short neck. While the distal tail of Dicraeosaurus isn’t completely preserved, a whiplash tail was probably present, as with other diplodocoids. Art by DiBgd.

Unfortunately not. The dark age of vertical Diplodocoids is upon us and thus the age of excessively low tails.

Day 10 - Diplodocoidea : Diplodocus (Juvenile)
1 hour. I bet you thought I was going to add a beak, I am not quite sold on the beak so I opted for something more similar to a rhinoceros iguanas mouth with hardened scales.
