Nesbit Moor 1355. William Ramsay of Dalhousie (Brother of Alexander, the hero of Dunbar siege) draws Lord Dacre & Lord Grey from Norham into a trap. John Halyburton of Dirleton killed in the Scots charge but English defeated with prisoners taken. Darce & Grey were ransomed.
Some folks thought my old drawing of Ramsay of Dalhousie Castle looked like some kind of fantasy Elf helmet. When it is a classic basicnet. Modern example of me waiting to do a tour at Dirleton Castle for the @royalcelticsoc in 2017. #ManAtArms #storytelling #DirletonCastle

As a boy I was amazed at the work of Alan Sorrell. His reconstruction of Dirleton was the first image of its kind I ever saw. So I copied his techinque of boxing views a section at a time. I used (8 pence) Postcard images in 1981 then scaled up to A3 size (Tantallon example)
