Yes we know he's a 🦎 not a 🐻 but he's Peruvian and extremely polite, despite outward appearances.

And that's definitely strawberry jam on his collar, honest...

John Knox was captured by the French at St Andrews Castle in 1547 & served as a galley slave. At one point he was in Aberlady Bay beside Luffness Castle during the Haddington siege 1548/49. If he had escaped & swam ashore then some locals would have hidden him.#JohnKnox

4 new pieces have arrived in The Gallery by popular Haddington artist Janet McCrorie. All are done in mixed media.
The long pieces are priced and £625 and measure framed 92cm x 45cm.
The square pieces are priced and £500 and measure framed 52cm x 52cm.

theme is Coal. In 1598 Haddington was destroyed by fire. To stop this happening again, the Town Crier proclaimed the poem 'Coal and Candle' through the streets every night for the next 250 yrs to remind people to put out their flames.
