This is one of a series of paintings that JD Fergusson made of the American fashion artist Roberta (Bobbie) Paflin. Fergusson painted several portraits of Paflin including 'Bobbie, Champs Elysees' and 'The Ochre Coat'.

It was James Fergusson, a Scottish architectural historian, who led a campaign to save the priceless murals of Ajanta. Fergusson brought the vandalism to the attention of the East India Company, and they appointed Major Robert Gill to make copies of the cave art. 4/8
