Bagarius gigas, a large extinct species of sisorid catfish from the Eocene West Sumatra and Java. The fossil is fairly fragmentary, but it is estimated at 1.5-2m long, just like the extant Bagarius lica and Bagarius yarelli.

This might be the coolest 🦕 taphonomy paper yet! Hornung et al report on fragmentary probable titanosaur remains (dorsal centrum & manual phalanx) - and other fossils - that weathered & were later fluvially transported & deposited IN A CAVE!

In the past tense, home was always changing, fragmentary, becoming hazy & washed out in memory.

This doodle is now 2 years old! Paraxenisaurus is a mystery dinosaur found in Mexico. It was described as a deinocheirid based on fragmentary remains. If correct it is the first deinocheirid ever found in North America! Btw that's a prehistoric banana relative on the corner :B
🕯️It's still my birthday so I wanna thank my 3 amazing collectors on @foundation

- bone! It's believed that its hands would've helped it climb trees or catch prey! It's also possible that they were adapted for limited aerial movement, but it's hard to say for sure, as it's only known from the fragmentary remains of one individual! (2/2)

“This fragmentary taxon was probably smaller than most imagine, if you estimate based on more complete relatives. It’s still quite a big animal!”

August 14, 1856, died #OTD Victorian theologian & geologist William Buckland. He described the 1st #dinosaur as Megalosaurus in 1824 based on a fragmentary preserved jaw 🦖

While the crania from Omo Kibish have received more attention than the postcranial skeleton of Omo 1, @ashleyshammond and coworkers found that the fragmentary left hipbone has low iliac flare and smaller iliac tubercle like hipbones of most living people. https://t.co/miX56yTTpL

@EmuLarge I found remains of Peltophryne as well in the literature, but while the largest I found were probably up to 2o cm long they all seem to represent living species or are to fragmentary to exclude that they belong to modern species.
Just a pair of some more Paleoart recons: featuring Spinostropheus and Arganasuchus.
Spinostropheus was a bizarre ceratosaurian, likely an Elaphrosaur, from Mid Jurassic Niger. Arganasuchus on the other hand, a fragmentary terrestrial Loricatan from Late Triassic Morocco.
another pterosaur, however the first from Russia!!! Described as cf. Lonchognathosaurus sp. by Averianov et al., (2022) due to being nearly identical to Lonchognathosaurus, but being too fragmentary to have a concrete conclusion.
