I’ve been working away on my big painting for this will be the centrepiece. It’s 1 metre square and this is just a part of it.

The Fideal - an evil water spirit or fuath - was said to haunt Loch na Fideil near Gairloch in the Scottish Highlands. The embodiment of entangling bog grasses and weeds, it would tempt passers-by and drag them to the bottom of the loch.

🌿 "In Scottish folklore the was a solitary male fairy. He was kindly and reticent yet sometimes wild in character but had a gentle devotion to children. Dark haired and clothed in leaves and moss, he lived in a birch wood within the Gairloch and Loch." 🌿

Yesterday, I spent a happy few hours archiving/photographing the wonderful work (in total, 82 watercolours donated to Gairloch Museum for fund-raising) of the late Jean McGregor Gardner (1932-1986) for the exhibition being held in her memory at the new Museum from Friday.

Some of the birds seen on way and at Shiants. Hope to be back later in summer as this is an amazing and unique place. Less people visit than St Kilda. Hopefully regular trips from Gairloch/Badchro with Wester Ross Sea Adventures this summer.

I'm orbiting Baosbheinn, one of the Torridon mountains, in my head, several times, every day. I've only been up to the top twice,& both times, just as I approached what would have been the view over to Badachro, Gairloch, Skye and the other Torridon Mountians, thick clouds came.
