Perseus and the Graeae by Edward Burne-Jones (1892)
Perseus and the Graeae (1892) by Edward Burne-Jones (English artist, lived 1833–1898). The Graeae were three sisters who shared one eye and one tooth between them. Staatsgalerie, Stuttgart. #PreRaphaelite #Greekmyth
The Graeae Sisters, from Greek mythology, are Deino (dread), Enyo (horror) and Pemphredo (alarm). Between them, they shared one eye and one tooth. The magical eye was imbued with wisdom, though the tooth was merely for chewing.

Two wonderful pieces that were recently gifted to me by friend and artist, @wwworonin. Both pierce your imagination with the intensity of their stares.

#FairyTaleTuesday In Greek mythology the #Graeae are sisters, three old women, known as “the grey ones”. Born grey, their most obvious physical feature was that they had but one eye & one tooth between them, which were passed around the three.

My favorite witches for #FairyTaleTuesday are the Graeae, or Grey Ladies. 3 sisters named Deino (dread), Enyo (horror) and Pemphredo (alarm). Sometimes old hags, sometimes young and fair, they shared one eye and one tooth between them. 🎃 #31daysofHalloween #greekmyth #graeae
Perseus Episode 6:

The second is my novelette, "Gretel," a reimagining of "Hansel and Gretel" with pirates, a trio of witches inspired by the Graeae, and a magical labyrinth. The cover art for both books is by Natasa Ilincic. https://t.co/eIfXkq9vjg #FairyTaleTuesday #freebooks #fantasy
