Draft for Guadalcanal. I will have to work on the two arts simultaneously
Vanara are a race of forest dwelling ape- like people who help Rama defeat Ravana, the rakshasa I covered earlier. Vanara may be similar to other simian fairies such as the Caucasus Almas, Australian Yowie, New Zealander Maero, the Guadalcanal Giants & Malaysian Hantu Jarang Gigi
Received fanarts from my friend! Juneau and Laffey. Both fought gallantly in the naval battle of Guadalcanal. Juneau’s an angel!!
Finishing the illustration of Sterett, one of the survivors from the Naval Battle off Guadalcanal.
She underwent a horrible night, and was slowly realizing the fact of staying afloat.

USS Sterett, a little hero on both the Atlantic and the Pacific, veteran of the battle of Guadalcanal and Vela Gulf, suffered from Kamikaze but survived. In her stories I see her courage and how she grew into a fighter. Nicknamed HMS Steadfast, “I hope we would prove worthy.”
The 2nd Marine Division had combat experience in the Guadalcanal. Supported by naval guns, the Marines were able to take the coast of Betio by the end of the first day. In the following days, the Americans conducted an additional series of landings and ruin the Japanese defense.
Design for USS Sterett, the little hero at the naval battle of Guadalcanal.
I love this new dress and skate shoes.
#OTD 1939, the film adaptation of the novel "Gone with the Wind" premiered in Atlanta. Author Margaret Mitchell later christened USS Atlanta (CL-51) in 1941. After the light cruiser was lost during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal, Mitchell christened USS Atlanta (CL-104) in 1944.
On #ThisDayInHistory in 1943, a daring night torpedo plane attack disabled the freshly repaired USS Chicago. The parting blow of the Guadalcanal Campaign helped to mask the Japanese retreat from the "Starvation Island". The Chicago was abandoned the next day after more damage.
"First Marine Ace" by Roy Grinnell
Launching from the deck of the USS Long Island on 20 August 1942, Capt. Marion Carl and 18 other VMF-223 pilots landed their #F4F4Wildcats on the captured Japanese airstrip on #Guadalcanal, a strategic island in the #SolomonIslands chain. #ww2
