@__AMADIOHA__ @eucherenkov @JohnDKowalski1 @archaeologyart Good on you! 🙂
Might I suggest you start by questioning why Hollywood has a perennial focus on Cleopatra instead of previous actual native Egyptian queens like Hatshepsut or Nefertiti, or for that matter Nubians of ancient Sudan like her contemporary Queen Amanirenas of Kush:
@Perzipan @carmonpullen @AshleyKSmalls Exactly. This is tiresome when people bring up a colonial European like the Greek Cleopatra and not a native Egyptian queen like Nefertiti or Hatshepsut, let alone a black Nubian like Queen Amanirenas of Kush (Sudan) or Queen Gudit of Ethiopia.
Also, Shaka Zulu was a king! 😏
Her festivals were celebrated with ritual drinking, dancing, and religious ecstasy, in particular the Festival of Drunkenness. Powerful female royals, such as the Pharaoh Hatshepsut, also made effort to conflate themselves with the goddess in order to legitimize their power. 3/3
