My ancestors lived between the mountain and sea, in the remote townland of Roads (formerly Rhodes and before that, Na Róda). This place is quiet and hidden from the nearby Ring of Kerry. Here, the sky is always changing and the rain blows sideways.

My parents live in a very countryside small close-knit community in Castlecove Kerry.

The landlord of the local pub there (An Siopa Dubh) sadly passed away over Christmas, so my mother asked if I'd be willing to paint a portrait of him as a present for his wife.
