This level always sticks in my mind because of the flat opening area and the Thunder Lakitu (which might be the only one in the game?). In the game, Thunder Lakitus are pink/red, so it's interesting that they made this Lakitu yellow in the original icon.
full disclosure: 7-year-old me hated this guy with a deep hatred that I would probably throw a tantrum when I get killed by one.

The Royal Bus is loosely based on Lakitu's Cloud; it is a bigger version of the cloud Lakitus ride in without the smiley face. Plus, the "wheels" are big Lakitu shells.
