while going through ref images, I was delighted to find this photo of Derek Meddings working on the 'little 2' launch model - it looks like he's applying the point from an exclamation mark from a Letraset sheet of Compacta, to the 4th pod panel to make this little white detail.

I have been thinking about this 1970s Letraset transfers set 'The Red Planet' for decades. Finally found a visual reference to it. I remember my Mum buying us all a different transfer set each so we'd have something to occupy us when the TV went in for repair circa 1976/77...

During the 1970s, Letraset bought licences for its action line, including Place down the graphics and rub a pencil over them to adhere to the BG image. Lots of fun, really but you get one shot at it.
