WIP. Using very mild airbrush more on the edges and midtones just makes the figure way more solid and punchy. I've been looking at a lot of mignon's art and there's just so much subtle soft brushing I've been missing out on. We live to learn from the greats.😤

so really rather than just blending a bunch of colors with one brush you're more layering them on whatever you're using as a flat base, blending them with the base, and using blended parts to colorpick midtones

From experience I can say that this bit of knowledge can bring a piece to the next level. I applied it a bit later in my artistic journey than I wanted, but I am happy I understand it now.

It's interesting but most textures exist in the mid-tones.

I'll also put today's piece next to the underpainting (namely a Gradient Map overtop my value sketch). Focuses on cooler midtones, that way adding the warm pops of lights and darks really sell both the warms and the cools with not much extra effort

@GerantBiosteans @lupusdaemonis nope the original color circle actually just picked from a high value in the photograph, if we select from each pictures midtones he actually looks like this which is pretty accurate since he is slightly unsaturated and a tad overexposed
