This superb portrait of Oystercatchers by Jenny Aitken has found a home, too. Still a few more of Jenny's vibrant oil paintings left though, at https://t.co/kjREjnZNrY

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.
The birth flower for 29 April is the Oystercatcher.
In the language of flowers, it means "good luck is sure to come, good fortune, eloquence, happiness is yours, gifts, Message, elegance".
May good luck be with you.

Living in Derbyshire, I don't get to see many of these beautiful birds but a trip to Northumbria gave me chance to sketch a few for painting. Love their beady red eyes. Oil on canvas board.

The heatwave here in Devon is beginning to break, the sea might get a bit choppy.
Wherever you are hope you have a good day x

Eurasian Oystercatchers (Haematopus ostralegus) are characteristic birds of the coasts around Europe and are mainly migratory species. In winter the birds can be found in North Africa and southern parts of Europe.

I did some wee watercolour illustrations of oystercatchers, which are now available on products over on my (oft forgotten) Redbubble store: https://t.co/jbMwjAC4d4

Smaugust 2021 - Oystercatcher

A favourite seabird of mine, they adorably poke about in mud and sand and run away from encroaching waves.

Wonderful pleinair sketching along the coast path. The cliffs are alive with colour, yellow gorse and pink sea thrift. The screech of at low tide
