After making the BG I needed to try to make the legendary wolf... so I manually reduced the sprite to the same size as the FF2 MD. For the spells I would use the hair colors... there would be a nice port huh

Pigsy's work on SOTN for MD is impressive, I felt inspired to try something along these lines, so I made my attempt. Using a pal for the FG and another for the BG, all with the MD colors, and are clear with some adaptations.

One of the reasons why SF RM takes so long to finish is that I’m very picky. I bet most people never noticed that this guy's shoulder is missing from the Guile stage, but I spent a lot of time trying to include it on BG animation cycle
