Many people will wake feeling loss and sadness this morning. This picture book 'When sadness comes to call' from 2020's #ReadforEmpathy collection sprung into our minds, helping children understand sadness, letting it settle and knowing there will be brighter days @EvaEland
When we #ReadforEmpathy, we're building a powerful skill. And that doesn't end with one person: it triggers a chain reaction! ⚡️⚡️
Chie Kutsuwada (@chitanchitan) has gorgeously portrayed this in her 2022 Empathy Illustration 🎨

Congrats to the wonderful @CAnganuzzi for the publication of Strong – out today! About a little dragon who doesn't fit in with the crowd but finds that strength can come from within. It's a real stunner and the perfect read for #EmpathyDay #ReadforEmpathy

Today is #EmpathyDay & our book of the week is 'When Life Gives You Mangoes' by @kereengetten. Something big happened to Clara last summer but she can't remember what it was - a wonderfully atmospheric, voice-driven narrative with a stunning twist. @TheKingstonAca #ReadForEmpathy
Looking forward to using this text tomorrow. Some great ideas from @EmpathyLabUK, do tune in... READ. CONNECT. ACT.

Happy Empathy Day! When children read & identify with the feelings of book characters, the more children understand how people work & understand worlds outside of their own. More empathy = happier children & a better world. @EmpathyLabUK #ReadforEmpathy #EmpathyDay #parent #read
Right now we’ve never needed empathy more, that's why I'm so pleased to be part of #EmpathyDay.

It would be remiss of me to not tweet about the Picturebook text in the Secondary collection. A beautifully illustrated, hard-hitting, uplifting, hopeful read: ‘The Undefeated’ by @kwamealexander & @KadirNelson. This needs to be in the hands of so many children. #ReadForEmpathy
Offering hope in a scary world, #DunjaJogan’s beautiful ‘Felix After the Rain’, translated by Olivia Hellewell, brings out a wide range of emotions in readers, culminating in a comforting catharsis for Felix. A perfect text for cross-school empathy building.

Created by @TineMortier & #KaatjeVermeire, translated by David Colmer. Words and art coalesce in ‘Maia and What Matters’ to create an emotional experience that resonates long after reading. Themes around age, illness, death & life are sensitively explored. UKS2
