oh also this is the first time I played a whole route with a scanline filter. it was fun, although for a game like tokimemo which already has really well-made pixel art I think it's not necessary to enjoy the experience

No, he's not supposed to have teeth, we literally have the artwork they downscaled for that sprite portrait and you can clearly see it looks nothing like the version with the scanlines.

I actually plan to record videos. It is obvious why Nintendo disabled the scanline / ghost mode, though could have added it as a menu icon option for players to set if they wanted.

You can, though somewhat coarsely. The normal/practical case would be doing it in hBlank time; between scanlines, even though it's a bit freer.

The effect will be subtle & it can be difficult to design a palette set that will look nice for both. Here, i did it to tint the water
