@Yoshihiro0011 @dukeoflolibutts There is, unfortunately, a part of the shmup community that are vehemently against "moeshit" shmups, including Touhou. The fact that you don't control a air/spacecraft blowing up giant robots being a deal breaker for them is rather sad, to be honest.

Really trying to get into shmups, I've always loved the way a lot of them look and play but truth be told I absolutely suck at them. For my first real serious foray into the genre, I've decided to go with Axelay, it seems like a great mix of top-down and sidescrolling design.
