For my first say hi to Petrus rupestris, (or the red steenbras,) a relatively large but rare fish belonging to the family of sea breams and porgies. This species is endemic to South Africa but is now unfortunately endangered due to overfishing.

For this week the round goby seemed appropriate. This small benthic fish have been introduced in the Great Lakes in 1993 probably by ballast water. Territorial and aggressive, it remodeled a lot of freshwater benthic communities.

For the -themed the grunt sculpin. Grunt sculpins camouflage themselves by sitting in empty barnacle shells and facing outward - in this position, the shape of its head makes it look like a barnacle!

All dogs are actually wolves! So for the doggo themed I added to my growing diagrams of fish jaws with Anarrhichthys ocellatus, a wolf eel!
