It makes me happy seeing people having fun with the lasso tool. If you are a slower artist like me I recommend BLOBS. It’s a similar technique for working pose/composition faster and it’s sorta like sculpting!
The first pic I shaded using a lot of different layer modes and brushes. The second one was done using very little modes and keeping the pen as the main tool.

In case you are wondering, this is how I practice using this tool.
I try to draw each face with sufficient details within 2 minutes, similar to gesture drawing.

Shading in things manually like this helps create natural variation in the shadows making it much less "sterile" as opposed to just using the fill tool.
If you want a less digital look, using methods of coloring closer to traditional is the best thing to do.
AI in itself is a tool. It's really up to the user whether they know how to use it or not. Saying AI is a bad tool is like saying photography is not art because all you've seen are people taking selfies

If you are having trouble with the paint bucket tool in Clip Studio Paint, try the Close and fill tool. Use my settings and block entire sections without getting weird issues in pointy spots.
