April 3-4, 1974:

The original Super Outbreak pummeled the Eastern US with 148 tornadoes in 24 hours. An astonishing 30 tornadoes were violent, a record 7 of which were rated F5. Many large cities sustained direct hits. Over 300 people were killed & 5.4k were injured.

A late-season Central Plains outbreak brought a number of strong/violent tornadoes to Nebraska and Iowa.

Two mile-wide EF4s were confirmed, one in Wayne, NE and the other near Pierson, Iowa.

18 tornadoes were confirmed and 17 people were injured.

Today in 1984, Nigerian potter, Ladi Kwali, died at the age of 59. ⏳

Kwali had an almost mathematical sensibility and a mastery of form and the clay material, evidenced by the symmetry of her work.
