Took me a while but now I can highlight nearest edges from hit location(very accurate). I was using https://t.co/Akn30ujFkx, but that meant selecting edges behind the model.

Now you can continue to draw loops.
Also improving the raycast so you can drag outside of the mesh, as long as it is nearby, you can see it still generates along given direction.
