A year ago, I was painting fungi - some things don’t change. 2 1/2 years into my painting life, I’m still incredibly inspired by the natural world around me. Let’s hope it continues for many years to come. This was exactly a year ago:

That’s fantastic! Love how it diminishes! I’m much more of a slap it on painter so I completely admire your water. Much better than mine!

A child in my class really kindly gave me a voucher at Christmas to buy ‘something for your art stuff’ - how lovely! So I chose some grey paper This took 10 minutes and seems a great medium for really rough sketches. The question is, can I create something with more finesse?

A 20 min explore of what watercolour pencils can do. There is a lot that is wrong with this, but I can see an enormous amount of potential in them to explore further.

A very rough and ready sketch this morning. I would like to revisit this on a day where I have more time and patience. But for now, as always, it’s just lovely to create, whatever the outcome😀. I hope December is treating you all well 🌲

My own first Mothers’ Day without my children by my side. They are growing up and making their own way in the world. I am immensely proud of them, but miss them enormously. Thinking of you all - whatever your circumstances. More art therapy for me, this morning 😀

It’s nearly coming up to a year since I started painting. I’ve been licking my wounds a little over the last 24 hours after some direct feedback, however it has made me realise that what I do is create - not replicate. A big learning point! Here are some of my favourite creations

A friend asked for me to paint a duck and moorhen - with reflections. It’s been a great opportunity to be dragged from my comfort zone. I do know that her appreciation of them can’t come close to the joy I’ve had painting them.
