I was never really good at flash, or animating for that matter. But it, probably more than anything growing up, was what got me to create. To make art. Had me aim to practice and study and work at things until I got better.
And I did it again in my first year of high school, again spending sleepless nights to produce a stilted, barely animated, this time "anime ending" style animation.
Somewhat better art. Somewhat better skills. All made possible by the magic of Flash (this time CS3).
In sixth grade, I wanted to make an animation for my talent show. So, I sat down and made an anime styled opening for a story/world series of mine.
Of course, I was only... 12-13 years old. It wasn't going to be good.
But god, was it an experience.
While I was first pulled into doing art seriously through anime and manga, what really drove me to create were actually flash cartoons from the early 2000s. Folks like LegendaryFrog and EgoRaptor were some of my earliest inspirations.
Back in late middle school, I watched through the entirety of Lucky Star. I... don't know why. While I was into anime, it was definitely a show meant for those REALLY into anime and...
yeah.
...Anyway here's Konata Izumi with a little Rainbow Dash toy.
