What better way to celebrate Munnings’ birthday #BornOnThisDay 1878 than being at the preview of Laura Knight: A Panoramic View @MK_Gallery. A fabulous show which includes our beautiful lampshade decorated by Laura for Munnings in 1919. Thanks to all in MK for a wonderful day.

The painting September Afternoon shows two young ladies in a canoe gliding down the river Stour between Dedham and Flatford.

A painting which Munnings did for his own enjoyment. The museum owns four large variations of this composition and two dozen studies & sketches for it.

We feel very privileged to have on loan, from a private collection, a magnificent painting titled The Grey Horse. It depicts Ned Osborne on the mare Gray Tick. The painting was begun in 1913 and completed in 1924

The painting leaves the museum at the end of October.

"I worked looking into the April sunlight, which lit the back, loins and mane of the mare, surrounding Ned's coat with a flaming, scarlet light."
