#DBZrewatch 172:
Although Last House's episodes seriously degraded throughout the early portions of this arc, there is some marginal improvement, particularly with the likes of Ohara (pictured) producing some stylish work with some solid Uchiyama corrections on top.
Yuko Inoue draws the absolutely adorable birthday celebration scene towards the end of the episode, though it's Hideki Inoue who finishes things with the cute painted noodle slurp shot. The latter's main contributions are towards the middle where the reporter talks to Cell.
As per usual, Toei don't put any real care into the actual remaster process, so they're tinted and bleached, and require additional work to bring them back to how they should look. Likewise, they continue to ignore the existence of high quality audio and are missing eyecatches.
@KALS_Kingdom My favourite one is volume 8's, especially the alt cover which is just the cutest damn thing ever
The Todd McFarlane Batman statue I ordered arrived today. I can't get over how fucking nice it is. It's based on his cover for Batman #423. I've always absolutely adored the spiky shoulder look. It's part of why I really love McKean's work on A Serious House on Serious Earth.
Here are four shots: the first is the Dragon Box, the second is Funi's 30th BD, the third is Kai, and the last shot is the actual production cel. Even Kai, despite being closest, isn't as impressively 'modern' as the show originally looked. Dragon Ball isn't meant to look dated!
@NaveriptorX The difference between the old (colour version) and new translations (b&w from dogpark) are night and day. Alas the new TL isn't complete yet. The bottom left is no longer gobbledygook lmao
