Not a quiz - just sharing a handful of the big strange “heads” that populate the Marvel Universe!
Four Marvel covers I like. Pat Broderick, John Buscema, Marie Severin, and Sal Buscema!
And that’s all I need to say about that!
Nick Fury...through the eras!
Howling Commandos, Strange Tales, S.H.I.E.L.D, vs S.H.I.EL.D and beyond!
I felt Fury’s potential was never fully tapped after S.H.I.E.L.D. Vol 1. He was a fantastic supporting player but it felt like he could’ve been much more in the Bronze Age!
Who is the happiest hero?
Spread some cheer today!
And a hiya to some of my faves: @BronzeAgeBabies @Walker_KM @BiLLYd_licious @wmpreston @AlphaTalking @ComicsintheGA @jeffs_comics @Charlton_Hero @CapeworldComics @SalBuscemaArt @themiddlespaces @VanAllenPlexico & all the rest!
Marvel villains created in the mid to late Bronze Age were an interesting sort, often with weird or surreal characteristics and great costume design. Which of these had/has the most potential?
Swarm 1977
Ruby Thursday 1976
Crossfire 1979
Hybrid 1981
Supporting character I enjoyed: Jean DeWolff! 1st introduced in Marvel Team-Up #48 (‘76) by creators Bill Mantlo & Sal Buscema, the strong, no-nonsense, chain-smoking, roadster-driving, beret-wearing police Captain made an immediate impact. Her fate left a gap in Spidey stories!
The Growing Man! This character fascinated me when I was young. You hit him and he grows! How’re they going to stop him?!? Kang’s muscle, the Growing Man has it going on! A villain I like seeing occasionally...
Today, villains I’d like to see more of...The Sphinx!
From biblical times magician Anath-Na Mut faced off against Moses in front of the Pharoah and lost. Exiled, he stumbled across the Ka Stone and became immortal. He had a death wish and battled the FF, Nova and even Galactus!
I may be a Bronze Ager, but these early Tales to Astonish stories fascinate me! Aliens, mad scientists, monsters, and creatures! It would be fun to see more of this still existing in the Marvel Universe!
