I'm sure, Tanis never knew a so dark and terrifing night sky ever.
ILM Technician Gary Platek, besides legend Richard Edlund, doing some magic for the opening of the map room. Spielberg decided they need the same effect we previously admired in Close Encounters. Awesome.

The sequence of the Marhala Bar was filmed entirely on the very location in Kairouan. The owner of the current carpet shop charges you even for a look inside the store, if you show up with a Fedora.

Did you know that Danny DeVito was one of the candidates for the role of Sallah? Another of the discarded actors was Kevork Malikyan. Kazim in LC.
Finally John Rhys-Davies was chosen to portray the role, whose artistic skills convinced Spielberg immediately.

Steven Spielberg signed his contract two and a half years after that meeting in Hawaii. Then he would declare that if Lucas had offered to shoot the movie that same day, he would not have accepted since he had in mind to direct other types of films, perhaps some of 007.

The skeletons were made in Stan Winston Studios, with the bright eyes skulls included. Later, ILM worked in the skull in different ways, and they took care of the animation part, making one of the skeletons come alive in the final scenes of the film.

Mutt and Indiana enter a library in their run away. This library was built in the dining room of Yale University. They removed the tables and chairs, filled it with bookshelves and put a heavy protection on the floor so that it would not be damaged by the motorcycle.
