one of my testers once brought to my attention the similarities between Plum and Mr. Mint from Candyland and I was blown away by how similar they were despite him not being an insp at all. I'll chalk it up to my childhood subconscious worming its way into my character design.
Plum concept art vs Final Design
HV desperately needed a Sugar Element character, and I started having ideas about a candy magician, which somehow turned into a weird hungry gremlin.
Plum is the most recent original Party Member, only being born in April of 2019.

HV Trivia:
Ever wondered why Klaus got a unique portrait despite being a minor NPC?
He was actually intended to be a major character and recurring rival antagonist that appears frequently to fight you and cause trouble.
He was replaced by Mothman.

Barnaby concept arts vs. Final Design
Originally a Wererabbit named Herbert, I went with a hamster because I thought it was something really goofy that was unique. He was a small hamster that became a bigger angry one, I instead finally went with a hillbilly turned tiny rodent.
There was going to be a "trio". Since Alice was half offense half heals and Raven was all heals, there was going to be a red "all offense" nurse skeleton that uses medicine and a giant needle to slaughter undead. I scrapped it cause I had a better idea. She never had a name.

I love plague doctors, so it was pretty much a given that one would be a party member. Originally a green skinned ghoul/zombie, I made her a skeleton girl because I thought it made her more unique. Her sisterhood to Alice was only added later.
Drew the funny skeleton man everyone keeps talking about in my game's comment sections
