@BirdseedStone @boi_papy Correct! So apparently the main villain in CS was initially going to be the black paint itself, taking form as a cape and possessing Bowser. While in the final cut the idea of "Bowser possessed by black paint" still goes in play, they didn't make the paint an actual character.

Paper Mario Color Splash bosses but they're all original designed characters.

Was worried I'd forgotten how to draw men again after days of drawing cartoon. Glad I'm still pretty decent at it, without using any reference too even! So this is actually quite an achievement for me.

@DarkerJenny_ @PenScribbleDX Ehh, I think what OP was trying to say is not that NES isn't capable of good graphic but more of how most mockup brushes off the period devs didn't know how to optimize their graphic. Hence the SMB1 palette. SMB3 had pretty decent looking sprites too but was not the point.
