12/17/74: Not comics per se, but both Warren and Marvel released their monster magazines with a focus on Godzilla *exactly* the same day. For big Kaiju fans (like me) it was a very Merry Christmas. Covers by Ken Kelly (FM) and Bob Larkin (MotM).
It was OTD in 1968 THE PHANTOM STRANGER made his reappearance in SHOWCASE #80, with Joe Orlando commissioning new framing material around 1950s reprints. By next March he would have his own title and eventually ditch the reprints, reaching a zenith with Len Wein & Jim Aparo.
