He founded the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood in 1848 with William Holman Hunt and John Everett Millais.

Agatha Christie's first published novel, "The Mysterious Affair at Styles", was published in the UK #OTD 1921, following a release in the USA 3 months earlier; it had earlier been rejected by several publishers.
Most notably, the novel introduced the world to Hercule Poirot!

We are putting in nods for the Cheshire Cat, Garfield, Mog, & the Discworld's Greebo as some of our top cats from literature
Arthur Miller's "A View from the Bridge" opened in the Coronet Theatre on Broadway #OTD 1955, as a one-act play which ran for 149 performances, but ultimately flopped. Miller revised it to a two-act version which opened just over a year later, & theatre has never looked back...
Apparently it is #InternationalDogDay, which is a great excuse to post some of our favourite literary dogs - which are yours? #Books
