The gameplay was poorly received by #CCG players & SUPER DECK was soon forgotten in the deluge of new games starting to hit the market in 1995
It did receive a one "Slim Deck" expansion set in June 1995 featuring new cards & variants but this failed to help the game's longevity
Released in 1994, FLIGHTS OF FANTASY was a fantasy art card set by early #MagicTheGathering artist @EdBeardJr
During production, game mechanics like die rolling & power stats got added. This made it more appealing to players who in 94 were hungry for more #CCG since #MTG release
Before it could be released in the US in March 2002, Upper Deck had to censor the art for some cards in the #YuGiOhTCG
Here is a side-by-side of a finalised US card & its US prototype featuring the Japanese OCG art...
...I get the dress, but what is wrong with BLUE headbands?
Before it was dubbed "Duel Monsters" in the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and anime, the CCG the characters played was called "Magic & Wizards"
It was heavily inspired by @wizards_magic, which had become hugely popular in Japan by '97
The name was derived from Magic: TG & Wizards of the Coast
