The refreshing addition of Pauline after Odyssey is the closest thing we've had to a 'new' human in the main lineup, though that's more of a comeback. I don't count the New Donkers, they're like a different species, haha

Still pondering what this year's upcoming Spooky Carl will be, but here's some past spoops:

I suppose them being big boss versions of basic baddies is probably a major factor, but there have been plenty of others in that category that simply faded away.

I'm also curious what quality leads some bosses to qualify as mainstays. Petey Piranha & Gooper Blooper seem to cameo every five gosh dang minutes, but I'm gonna go ahead and guess we won't be seeing Rollodillo or the Motley Bossblob popping up in spin-off games any time soon.
