The problem is that 3rd party sellers usually charge more for blurays, reducing sales. A portion of shoppers on Amazon won't buy an Alita bluray if it is sold by a 3rd party. @doc_ido
@AlitaBabe @doc_ido 20th Century Studios is the supplier of the Alita DVDs & Blurays. It seems that the problem is that Disney has laid off most of the people at 20th Century Studios & the people at Disney are struggling to cope with COVID-19 shutdowns. Disney & 20th Century appear to be in chaos.
@AlitaBabe @doc_ido Look at the bright side. In spite of Alita's bluray & DVD sales being sabotaged by stock outs, Alita is still moderately profitable. The estimate of Alita's profit is probably low by $20 million, so Alita is probably at a $93 million profit, heading to $99 million in 6 months.
@AlitaBabe @doc_ido $20 is the sales price. Fox earns about $8 per bluray so 238,000 X $8 = $1,904,000. You're correct - who would want to lose that money? And note that Alita's profit is currently about $72 million, & a sequel would probably earn more. Who would want to lose that kind of money?

The Numbers has updated 10/11 bluray sales & Alita was again not in the top 100. With Alita returning to theaters that should change. At 10/11 Alita is estimated to have sold 800 blurays, for an estimated Worldwide profit of $70 million, still heading to $77 million by yearend
Most of the theaters where Alita is showing can probably sell up to 30 seats. If Alita has a 7% market share of tickets sold, Alita will sell $385K; a 10% share gives $578K; an 18% share gives $1 million; a 25% share is $1.4 million. Alita can probably get a 10% market share.
