Tom Whalen’s vibrant movie poster for 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Original painting by Alex Ross featuring the new superhero stars of Marvel’s 1961-64 Silver Age breakthrough, for 1995’s Wizard #42.
I love it all. Especially the sense that Strange is catching sight of us through the picture frame. Which I can readily accept he might be doing
Batgirl, by Adam Huntley.
Still feels such a fresh & beguiling interpretation of a classic character.
Lunch Break, by Daniela Volpari.
I believe in this. This is exactly the kind of thing that Superman would do :)
“Four comics I own beginning with ‘D’ that I’ve enjoyed the heck out of.”
Professor X & his X-Men, by Michael Cho.
MC makes his cast look convincingly like mid-teens. I would love to read some stories about these versions of the characters.
Batman at the bus stop, by Dave Collinson.
Splendid. And I would buy this comic.
I’ve taken to picking up old books by Shirley Hughes. The likes of “Lucy & Tom’s a.b.c.” might not grab me in terms of text, but heavens above, her illustrations are flat-out wonderful!! So closely observed, so brilliantly executed! Awe is not an inappropriate response.
Judge Dredd & Sensitive Klegg, the cover art by Chris Weston for 2014's 2000AD #1889.
I'm in awe of Chris Weston's art. And looking at these scans, I realise I struggle to think of another artist whose work is as totally beguiling in both black & white and colour.
